This piece is a way for me to work through my habit of counting everything. It's something I do all the time, often without thinking, and making this work helped me let some of it out and try to understand it better. I started by putting down India ink on paper, letting the marks happen instinctively without planning too much. Once the ink dried, I went back into it with pen and pencil, writing numbers along the shapes and movements I had made. Layering the numbers this way created depth and texture, almost like tracing the way my mind moves. It’s a small way of turning something that usually stays invisible inside me into something I can actually see.
